The thought of the future is exciting! Surgeries, clinical rounds, experiences that not many high school students get to experience. It is brilliant how our technology has advance to accommodate for making incisions in the brain!

Weekly Report 3/26/18 to 4/1/18
The past week has been focused on the primary stages of preparing for final presentation night. The week began with getting a badge made at Children’s Medical Center. The process was short and easy to get a badge made. Afterwards, I went in to talk to Dr. Braga’s surgery scheduler who gave me an idea of what days certain cases are. This gave me an idea of what the next few weeks will look like and how the final product will fall into place in the midst of watching surgeries that may not be related to the final product. Evidently, we won’t be able to watch all seventeen surgeries for the final product as every body differs in its reaction to certain treatments and the time span does not allow us to watch seventeen surgeries as surgeries are scheduled based on the need or condition of the patient. Next week holds exciting opportunities to learn as the first day of the week starts off with a brain tumor surgery at 7:15 AM which will be an amazing experience as it provides a realistic feel of a surgeon’s life. The goal is to stay throughout the duration of the surgery in order to understand every component of the surgery.
In terms of final product, this week was dedicated to more research on Chiari since nothing much could be done for the clinical trials without being able to go in to watch surgeries. The assessment this week was dedicated to research on the final product and chiari including the symptoms, treatments, conditions, etc. The clinical trials should hopefully be starting within the next few weeks in order to begin the true hands on part of the final product.
In addition, this week also required drafting the invitation for final presentation night and creating a guest list. The invitation card was based off the research showcase presentation with more information added to the invitation. The difficulty was keeping the color scheme in mind and not making the invitation look too crowded with all the information. It was difficult to condense the information in a particular design; however, I did try my best to make an appealing invitation.
The following week holds a lot of opportunities to learn and experience things that I have never experienced before. The next week should be exciting an opportunity to take advantage of all the learning experiences with utmost interest.
