Shalika Padhi

Hello! My name is Shalika Padhi and I am currently a senior at Reedy High School in Frisco, Texas. As I progress through my ISM journey and and explore my passions, I will use this portfolio as a means to share my experiences and passion for learning.

Growing up, my curious nature drove me into many turmoils and opportunities to learn. From walking my baby feet down the aisles of our hospital in India, to breaking my arm and dreaming of becoming an orthopedic surgeon, to now when I have the opportunity to watch brain surgeries, every part of my life has been driven by my inquisitive nature. However, ultimately the one thing I have always been passionate about is inspiring others and creating a better future for upcoming generations.

My interest in medicine started at a very young age and progressed into middle school and high school where I began exploring research fields with my professor, Dr. Namrata Das, under whom I research about Alzheimer's. Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) further faciliated my medical interest as I began to compete, placing in the top ten of competitive events and was elected as one of the 2017-2018 officers

Aside from my academic interest, I continue to delve into my passion for music as a trained Hindustani Classical Singer. The past eleven years has been partially dedicated to music and taking exams under the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya music administration in India. After placing as a semifinalist at the national level, I continued to sing to become a certified classical singer.

I have always had a passion for serving people and making the lives of people better so that they can wake up seeing a better tomorrow. I hope to combine my love for medicine and my passion to learn to make this year's ISM journey a story to remember.
